welcome 2007, I need you to bear with me *smiles*
I can't remember the year when I started to have an aversion towards the Christmas season. Take note, Christmas season and not Christmas per se. Maybe it's the year 2005, or way further back. I just stopped getting the whole season because of the insane pressure. Oh, it's Christmas, everyone should be happy and giving and compassionate and pretentious crap. Thus, I am no longer a Christmas person.

On the other hand, celebrating New Year is just freaking fabulous. I love it.

Making a new year's resolution is something I've done when I was younger. I brought it to an end when i was smart enough to save myself from jotting down resolutions which I, eventually, will not follow. But since I am now a New Year person and the fact that I made myself believe I have self-control, I've came up with my own little list that I should be following starting Jan. 2. (We have a clan reunion on Jan 1, I pretty much would be pigging out for the rest of the day so let's start Jan. 2.)

My top 10 resolutions for 2007.

I , Rianna

1. Will not smoke nor even puff a cigarette stick.

2. Will not drink liquor of any kind. Especially beer even if it means drooling over a bottle of Red Horse while my classmates are having pleasure whilst drinking it. (*Applicable only from January to March)

3. Will eat less rice during dinner; eat more veggies, fruits and fish. Ditch animal meat occasionally.

4. Will start being nice to people whom I entirely dislike. This one is tricky because there's someone whom I really really despise, really entirely. I just can't get myself to like a bit of him and the thought of him makes me nauseous. Can we just exclude him so that I can keep this 4th resolution?

5. Will not talk about someone behind his back. I think this would be healthy for me or anyone perhaps.

6. Will get rid of the damn TV and DVD in my room whenever I have to study for a major examination.

7. Will not drink even a tiny drop of soda/softdrinks.

8. Will try to sleep early everyday, say before 12 midnight.

9. Will be more kind to the human and animal race.

10. Will take more chances and risks, will grab positive opportunities presented at hand, will live life and will enjoy the rest of the year 2007.

Starbucks Planner

Last December 24, I finally received my Starbucks Planner. I totally liked it except the leather cover/case which is so bulky that it wouldn't fit into my school bag. Maybe I'll ditch the black leather cover and just take the planner then turn it as my school notebook! yey!

Inside the planner we have..

BSIT is not for me
With the rate I'm going there's a 70% chance that I will fail at Database Management System and System Analysis and Design. I do not want to fail and attend summer classes again. Been there, done that and that should be the last time.

Our group must come up with a point of sale system for a Botika ng Bayan branch located at Dapitan Street. By doing so, we must at least know how to build a database system and a program then somehow interconnect those two.

Here's the problem. You see, the only programming language I know is C/C++ and not really good at it. Right now, I never know of anyone in my league that will use C/C++ as their language. Some will be using Delphi, Php, Visual Basic, language that I do not know. In addition to that, my first and only encounter with database is my 4th year high school computer subject that tackled MS Access.

Even if I know how to use MS Access, that still is irrelevant. I need to know how to program using Visual Basic. Coding might actually be easy, the question is will I be able to establish the right algorithm using my not so logical logic.

I wanted to curse my BS but that would make me ridiculous.

Come to think of it, my course is actually not bad considering that we are now living in an information technology age. I just don't think it's for me. Hence, I try hard to pass every freaking subject in my BS to be able to graduate on March 2008.

Now I envy those students who love what they're doing.

Christmas and insomnia

The number of people who acquires insomnia rises during Christmas season. At least that's what I think. Here are some reasons why people tends to be insomniac during this time of the year.

1. Limited Edition STARBUCKS 2007 freaking PLANNER - This may exclude people who are already counting on caffeine to continue breathing. You see, that 2007 planner is really one helluva planner, it's Starbucks for freakin sake.

Of course, before you can get those hands on that planner, you must accumulate at least 21 stickers. For some, that means 21 sleepless nights because of the amount of caffeine you get. But then again, you could order the creme based ones.

2. Too much Excitement -If you've just been given a tech gadget, say an N-series phone as a gift, tendency is you'd stay up all night because you are just too excited to discover every feature Nokia has put on it. You might as well start reading the manual too.

3. PROJECTS/ CASE STUDIES/ BULLSHIT FREAKIN SCHOOL WORKS - Our section has 3 projects all due next year. 4 students per group. The first subject requires us to make a point-of-sale system plus inventory. Second subject requires us to make an arithmetic calculator. And lastly, an algorithm promming case study.

Professors don't really give a damn about students like me. They always give projects during Christmas break and expect us to finish it on time, that is the first week of the following year. Christmas break is supposedly our only break from school wherein we can really relax. What part of holiday don't they get? It's HOLIDAY.

Sometimes I wish I'd taken up any Bachelor of Arts Degree, say Film and Audio Visual Communications , Sociology, or any course not involving the use of computer, math, circuits and programming.

Starbucks Christmas Traditions Card
I got my Starbucks Christmas Traditions Card last Dec 2 at Blue Wave Macapagal. Everytime you buy a Starbucks beverage, they will put an equivalent sticker on your card. One beverage is equivalent to one sticker. You must accumulate 21 stickers (12 for ordinary beverage and 9 featured Christmas beverage) before they can give you the Limited Edition Starbucks Coffee 2007 planner.

They started giving out these cards a month before I got mine, so I only have 2 more months to complete the stickers and have the Limited edition planner. Right now, I have a total of 6 stickers, 15 more to go. 15 stickers in 50 days... If I'll fly solo, that means I should buy at Starbucks once every 3 days or twice a week.

Coffee at Starbucks is definitely the best in this country. However, I am not addicted to Starbucks Coffee enough to make me buy their precious coffee twice a week on purpose.

Besides, I am not yet that desperate to get that Limited Edition Planner.

I am poor and I can but wouldn't buy a Starbucks coffee once every 3 days. White Mocha Frappuccino is the only coffee based drink I order and that costs 140 pesos (approx $3) for the Grande size. Here's probably what I'll do. I'll bring my friends with me and make them buy any Starbucks drink then I'll have the stickers. That's a great plan don't you think?

On with the Tradition.

They are selling the planner at pinoyexchange.com for 1,000-1,600 pesos. Don't yout think it kinda defeats the purpose?

SM Mall of Asia
SM Mall of Asia is definitely one of the go-to places this side of the country. Situated in a reclamation area at the heart of Pasay City, it is currently the Philippine's largest mall and third in the world in terms of floor area. It caters to everyone, from the lower classes to the middle and upper class.

Foreigners as well as Filipinos will surely enjoy the wide array of restaurants and shops located inside the mall. Shops like Zara, Topshop, Guess, Calvin Klein, Lacoste, Marrionaud (with all foreign beauty products one can possibly think of), Mango, and Terranova are to be found inside the mall.

Restaurants are also one of the main crowd-puller. A chain of the finest restaurants and bars are located at the back of the mall overlooking the Manila Bay. Tables are placed outside each and every restaurants to cater to people who simply wants to enjoy the view or/and feel the ocean breeze. Restaurants include Gerry's Grill, Aruba Bar, Prince of Jaipur, Cafe Breton, Lamesa Grill, and the Highlands Steakhouse (originally in Tagaytay Highlands) that serves the best steaks and fillet mignon in town.

If you're tired of the usual 2D cinemas here in Manila, you might want to try the San Miguel Coca-Cola IMAX theatre. It is the first ever IMAX theatre in the country with a screen as high as an eight-storey building and a seating capacity of 600 people. For the IMAX theatre, you will be charged 350 pesos per person compared to the regular cinemas that will cost you only 150 pesos max.

Just traverse the street and you'll get to the Manila Bay where you can stroll or sit at the esplanade with your friends. But make sure you can put up with the 100++ species of insects lurking around the bay.

One thing about the mall that i don't like is the massive crowd. I suggest do not go there on weekends especially on holidays because people are piling up everytime they have the chance to. People from all over the NCR are wanting to go there because the mall is really one of the finest in the country.

With my friend James..
and Czarina..

next destination for the night: Blue Wave, Macapagal.

this new iPod playlist saves the day!
Last week, Jeb, a good friend of mine, asked if he could borrow my iPod for a day and i said yes. In return, i asked him to replace all the songs in my iPod with his playlist. My playlist is getting too boring and I can't take another day with the same songs playing again and again and again and shoot me if i say again again. =p

I still can recall the genre of music this friend listens to back in high school. It ranges from hip-hop to Rap, RnB, and Bone Thugs N Harmony is his comfort music. Now he's a changed man, he gave me emo shit, alternative rock, rock, punk rock, reggae, beatles' songs (I love the Beatles!). You know what, i thank God he didn't put some heavy metal crap in my iPod because that would definitely make me not speak to him forever. haha.

Jeb if you're reading this, your hiphop/RnB/Rap songs suck. haha. Remember, you are a changed man. You must say goodbye to hiphop/rap and don't hold back. lol. You are so EMO now. =p
